I AM A DUMBASS. ALLOW ME TO EXPLAIN. Last week I accidentally knocked my huge laptop off my bed. Doing this broke the...I don't even know what you call it...wireless antenna? Now, not only do I not get any wireless, but my laptop doesn't even register that there's a wireless detector device in the computer at all, which is really bad. Example: when I flip the antenna's "on/off" switch, absolutely nothing happens, and there are no wireless icons in the system tray...Most inconvenient is the fact that I probably can't get it fixed until I go back to Yale on the 11th.
Is there any way a "layperson" like me who doesn't know how to forage into the innards of my laptop with tools (and who doesn't have a replacement part, anyway) can fix this? Don't mock me for this if you're a computer person but I'm kind of clutching at straws here; because this is a hardware problem, running System Restore wouldn't do anything, right?
