I don't understand the point of this class. Aren't we supposed to be learning things? I wasn't aware the title of the class was "AP Re-Hashing Liberal Ideas". Fine, I don't care if people have a different opinion than me, but it's not appropriate to keep obsessing about how evil Dick Cheney is in class, I'm sorry. This is not what I'm here for. If you walked into this class without any sort of American or world history behind you, you would think our government was the most disgusting, corrupt and heartless government that ever existed. There isn't even any sort of pretense at objectivity...we just read the same leftist conspiracy theories over and over and over. I put up with this. I read Robert Byrd's speech in Congress and I read Noam Chomsky's opinion on our political culture and I think about whether they're right or wrong and why they've said what they said. But when does everyone else's turn to think come? When's their day to do something else besides nod their heads and agree? They say at Packer that they "teach you to think critically". The whole "teach you to think" idea in general is suspicious. But really, how can you teach someone to think critically if they don't have all the sides to think about?
