Yay! I wrote my first insipid I'm-beginning-a-language dialogue in Dutch. I'm so excited I'll post it here, with a translation. Then I have to write another one.

Dialoog 1-Jan en mevrouw Bos (sooo this one is between Jan and Ms. Bos, who are aquaintances meeting one another at a party)

Jan: Goedenavond, mevrouw Bos. Hoe gaat het met u?
Mevrouw Bos: Het gaat goed. Dank u wel. Jij bent student, hè?
Jan: Ja, en u bent toch website-ontwerpster?
Mevrouw Bos: Ja. Hoe gaat het met je vader?
Jan: 't Gaat uitstekend! Hij zit in het buitenland.
Mevrouw Bos: Wat interessant! Wat doet hij dar?
Jan: Hij werkt in een supermarkt. Hij brengt de appeltarten voor mij.
Mevrouw Bos: Wat leuk!

ookay so.

Jan: Good evening, Ms. Bos. How are you?
Mevrouw Bos: I'm good, thank you. You're a student, right? (I know, boring...but I don't know how to say "drug addict" yet)
Jan: Yup, and you're a website designer, right? (I just love the word "ontwerpster")
Mevrouw Bos: Yes. How is your father?
Jan: He's doing very well. He's abroad right now.
Mevrouw Bos: How interesting. What does he do there?
Jan: He works in a supermarket. He brings me apple pies. (Just because I knew how to say supermarket, and apple pies)
Mevrouw Bos: How great!

YAY!!!

Dutch is actually pretty easy...but the grammar looks like it's going to get a little funky down the line. That's okay, I like grammar.
