Boudewijn de Groot is too cool.

AHHH, my computer just froze and my music stopped playing for a moment. The last time that happened, it was because my hard drive had died. Well, I'm expecting that to happen quite soon, anyway, so that would be no surprise.

Now to talk about why it's amazing to be a second-semester senior.

I had to return a dress to H&M, so after getting home at like 1:35 (I love having last period free on short tuesdays) I depart once more for the lovely R train. On the R, I read my "teach yourself dutch" (the title isn't capitalized) book while listening to Boudewijn, his son Marcel, Hans de Booij, Zusjes de Roo and my various other lovely Dutch musical friends. I go to H&M, return the dress, and unfortunately buy two skirts and a tank top. I need to stop buying so much stufff.
Then, since I have a Virgin gift card with money left on it, I decide to zip up to Union Square to buy Annbjørg, or Sorten Muld, or Bukkene Bruse. I manage not to get lost in the Union Square station even though the only other time I've taken the R there was after midnight this summer with two lovely females, Grace and Shane. I forge through the crowds in the Virgin pop/rock section and arrive at their crappy World section. They have even less stuff that isn't French/Spanish/Italian than they had the last time I was there. I know it's hopeless to expect them to have any Dutch music...but where is their Scandinavian stuff? They have Värttinä, who I LOVE, but I already have the CDs they've got at the store, and they have Väsen, who I want to get into but haven't listened to yet. I paw through the CDs again and again, but no, no Annbjørg, no Sorten Muld, no Bukkene Bruse. I am angered.

I go outside and call my mother to tell her I'm coming home, but then I get an idea: I can go down Broadway to the Tower Records and look there! I am not easily deterred when I want something, especially something musical. So I forge madly down Broadway, one of my techno remixes of the Wilhelmus blasting in my ears. I am a beast! Watch out for me!

By the time I get to Tower, I am a bit out of breath, and oh no, their World section is up a huuge flight of stairs. I trudge up the stairs and into their "Europe--Other" section. They have no "Denmark" area, so that rules out Sorten Muld. Their Norwegian area is tiny and only seems to contain two artists, neither of which I recognize. I search through the other countries like a madwoman. No success. Then I get an idea--the country they had after Norway was Poland, so I look in the space between the Polish section and the top of the shelf. And there...is the little card...for Annbjørg!!! There is only one CD there. I take it out, thinking it'll be Prisme, her most common CD which I'll get eventually, but I'm not dying to have at the moment. But no...it happens to be...Aliens Alive, her live CD! I absolutely love live CDs, and for some reason, I had the idea that they wouldn't be selling Aliens Alive anywhere. So I actually give a little squeal, because I am a silly idiot, and dance down the stairs with it, and it's only $12.95, so I pay and YAY my way out the door. I can't believe I just made "yay" into a verb.

I dart like hell back to the R station on 8th St, and on the way I am stopped by three ghetto guys.
Ghetto Guy #1: "Hey sweetie, wanna take our CD? It's free!"
Me: "No, thanks..."
Ghetto Guy #2: "But you'll love it, beautiful!" (or something like that)

Oh, ghetto guys. In any case, I get on the train, open my CD and glee about the pictures (there are even pictures of Bjørn Ole Rasch, famous "hairy norwegian guy", in there!) and rejoice in Boudewijn, especially his song "Avond", which is a live version and amazing. Then I go to Garden of Eden to buy a lovely-looking birthday cake for my mom (her birthday's today), and now I am home listening to a brilliant song by Bukkene Bruse. And not doing Gov. Oh, I love being a second semester senior today.

Damn, sometimes I just get a little tooo ecstatic! (Rachel would know what I'm talking about, but she still doesn't have a livejournal, silly thing.)
